The Pistons were without Richard Hamilton but it didn’t matter. The Lakers were dominated in the paint as the Pistons out-rebounded them 49-32, and it’s hard to win a game when that happens. Kobe Bryant led the Lakers in scoring with 19 points and 4 steals. Lamar Odom had a good game with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Luke Walton had a decent game with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Brian Cook had a decent game off of the bench with 10 points and 5 rebounds.

The Lakers didn’t look good last night and fell to 4-3 on the season.

The Lakers got out-rebounded 36-28 and didn’t play good defense allowing the Balzers to shoot 51.5% from the floor. Kobe Bryant led the way with 32 points. Luke Walton had a solid all-around game with 22 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Lamar Odom had one of his worst games this season with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Smush Parker added 10 points.

The Lakers fell to 4-2 with this loss.

The Lakers crashed the boards, out-rebounding the Wolves 44-31 leading the Lakers to victory. Andrew Bynum had his coming out party tonight with 20 points, 14 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. Kobe Bryant was solid with 17 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists. Lamar Odom filled up the boxscore with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Luke Walton kept up with the big-time hustle and is making himself into a ballplayer. Walton scored 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Smush Parker added 11 points.

The Lakers add another nice win to the record.

Lamar Odom is the second best player on the Lakers. Odom is Phil Jackson’s new ‘Scottie Pippen’ as he can do it all on the court and could be the main man if Kobe were forced to miss some time. Odom has averaged 15.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 1.0 steal and 1.1 blocks per game over his NBA career. Odom also is a good three-point shooter which adds to his value on the offense.

Brian Cook is the back-up for the Lakers. Cook is a good 3-point shooter (39.6% for career) and he can play closer to the rim when the team needs him to. Cook hasn’t gotten much playing time so far in his career, as he only has averaged 16.3 minutes per game. Cook has averaged 6.7 points & 3.1 rebounds per game over his career.

Ronny Turiaf is the #3 power forward entering the season. Turiaf didn’t get to play much last season as he was still recovering from heart surgery. Turiaf is a banger when he gets to play and looks like he may be a good rebounder. For his short NBA career, he has averaged 2.0 points & 1.6 rebounds per game.

The Lakers just couldn’t stop the Sonics who shot 51.9% from the floor. Kobe Bryant didn’t get to play very long, but he had 15 points, 4 rebounds and 9 assists. Lamar Odom scored 11 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and dished out 4 assists. Brian Cook scored 11 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Andrew Bynum (13 points), Luke Walton (10 points), Jordan Farmar (14 points) and Vladimir Radmanovic (10 points) all got a lot of playing time and helped out on offense.

The Lakers had to lose sometime, so I wouldn’t panic.

The Lakers out-scored the Sonics 32-24 in the 4th quarter to seize the victory on Friday night. Kobe Bryant returned and scored 23 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished out 6 assists. Lamar Odom has been fantastic all year long and was again on Friday night. Odom scored 28 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished out 6 assists. Luke Walton had a very solid game, scoring 20 points, grabbing 8 rebounds and dishing out 5 assists. Ronny Turiaf (13 points, 7 rebounds) and Andrew Bynum (9 points, 8 rebounds, 3 blocks) have kept up their impressive play this season.

If the Lakers young players keep producing, the Lakers could be better than anyone thought they would be.

The Lakers followed up their opening night win over the Suns with another victory over the Warriors on the road. Lamar Odom continued his fine play with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists. PF Ronny Turiaf had the best game of his NBA career, scoring 23 points and grabbing 8 rebounds. Luke Walton started at small forward and chipped in with 15 points.

This is an impressive start by the Lakers, who are without Kobe Bryant and their top 2 centers.

Kobe Bryant can do it all! Bryant even scored 81 points in a game last season! Bryant had an outstanding year last season, averaging 35.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists…..willing his team to the playoffs where they almost upset the Suns. Bryant is recovering from knee surgery and hasn’t played in the first two games this season, but he should return shortly. For his career, Bryant has averaged 23.9 points per game, 5.1 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game. Remember, he didn’t start right away, or him career numbers would be even better than they are.

Maurice Evans will be Bryant’s back-up. He was a seldom-used reserve for the Detroit Pistons, and he probably won’t get alot of playing time with the Lakers either. Evans only has played an average of 15.6 minutes per game, scoring 5.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. Evans is a decent shooter and could surprise if given a chance to play a little bit.

Sasha Vujacic is the #3 shooting guard. He came to LA with the reputation as a good 3-point shooter, but he’s only hit 32.3% of them in his young career. Sasha has averaged 15.8 minutes per game, scoring 3.6 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game in his career and will have problems getting on the court much.

The Lakers were without Kwame Brown, Chris Mihm and Kobe Bryant and after one quarter were trailing 41-26….it seemed like the Suns were going to blow the Lakers out of the gym. But, Lamar Odom would have none of that! Odom had a fantastic game scoring 33 points, grabbing 13 rebounds and dishing out 6 assists. Reserve guard Maurice Evans stepped into Kobe’s spot and scored 17 points. Young, second-year center Andrew Bynum scored 18 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and dished out 5 assists….and really looked good doing it. The Lakers shot 55.4% from the field and out-rebounded the Suns 43-29.

This was a great victory to start the season out for the Lakers.
