Kobe Bryant still on top of his game for the Los Angeles Lakers

The 31-year-old Kobe Bryant is not satisfied with only four rings, as he has shown early this season he is on a mission for his fifth.  He has gotten the Lakers off to a 4-1 start and he hasn’t limited himself to just scoring, although he is leading the league with 33.2 points per game.  He is also averaging 6.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and a league leading 3.2 steals.  Kobe once again has been getting it done down the stretch, as he has led the Lakers to two straight OT victories.  Kobe and the Lakers look to be the favorites in the West once again and don’t be surprised if Kobe adds another ring to his finger at the end of the season.

The Lakers are very happy with the way that starting center Andrew Bynum is playing right now. He has started 3 games for the Lakers this season and he is averaging 35.3 minutes, 20.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 1.0 blocked shot per game. The Lakers will watch his minutes when Pau Gasol comes back as they need to keep Bynum healthy this season.

With Pau Gasol out for a few games to start the season due to a hamstring injury the Lakers have inserted Lamar Odom into the starting lineup at power forward. He has started 3 games so far this season for the Lakers and he has averaged 12.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, 6.7 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot in 39.3 minutes per game. The depth of the Lakers has been damaged due to Gasol’s injury but at least they have a player the quality of Lamar Odom to pitch in.
