PF/SF Lamar Odom was a free agent last summer and the Lakers have to feel fortunate right now that he came back to them. He has played in 37 games (20 starts) for the Lakers this season and he is averaging 31.8 minutes, 9.5 points, 9.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. With Pau Gasol banged up right now Odom is starting at power forward and he is doing an outstanding job.
Kobe Bryant is playing some of the best basketball of his NBA career despite playing with a broken finger. He has played in 32 games (all starts) for the Lakers this season and he is averaging 38.7 minutes, 30.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.1 steals per game this year. The 31-year old Bryant is #16 all-time in the NBA in scoring with 24,800 points. He needs sixteen points tomorrow against the Mavericks to pass up Patrick Ewing for 15th on the all-time scoring list and he could do that before halftime. The Lakers will go as far as Kobe takes them this season as he is playing like a man on a mission.
